Proper Way to Exfoliate

Steps toward the proper exfoliation

The most important part of preparing for your sunless glow is to exfoliate.  When you are determining when to exfoliate remember to plan to complete the entire process the evening before your scheduled spray tan.

Step 1: Take a warm bath

Start the process by soaking in a warm (not hot but warm) bath.  We are often too busy to enjoy the relaxation of a bath but take the time (even if only once a week) and let your skin soak absorb the moisture.  I recommend soaking for at least 10 minutes.

Step 2: Apply the exfoliator

Rub the exfoliator all over your body including your face and neck.  See a previous blog post where I highlight one of my favorite products.

Step 3: Begin exfoliation

Use a warm wash cloth (read here why you should ditch the loofah).  Rub your skin in a circular motion being sure to apply less pressure on the face and more pressure on dry ares like the knees, elbows and heels.

Finish the process by rinsing any excess exfoliant off.  Allow your skin to absorb the warm moisture from the water.  Apply a moisturizer that does not have an oil base on your entire body.

I recommend exfoliating at least once a week to allow your body to remove dead skin and other particles and in turn keeping it soft, silky and smooth.
